Frances "Chickie" Rotolo
Frances "Chickie" Rotolo, 80, of Rome, passed away Thursday, January 31, 2008. She was born in Terranova Sappo Minulio, Italy on August 16, 1927, daughter of the late Giacchino and Maria Scullino Aiello. Frances came to the U.S. in November 1929. She attended DeWitt Clinton School and Saint Aloysius Academy. On January 7, 1955, she married the one and only love of her life, Jack J. Rotolo Sr. in St. John The Baptist Church. Mrs. Rotolo retired from Griffiss Air Force Base and was a former employee of Rome Specialty Co. She worked in the ticket booth at the Capitol Theatre and had also modeled clothes for Simpkins Clothing. During the 1970s-80s, she operated a produce farm with her husband and children. Mrs. Rotolo was a member of Transfiguration Church. She enjoyed traveling and made many trips to Europe, the Holy Land and Foxwood with her family and her two special friends and traveling partners, Antoinette Farino and the late Antoinette Boffi.
Surviving besides her husband, Jack, are three daughters and two sons-in-law, Jacqueline Rotolo Favata, Margaret and Dave Bovi, Michele and Stephen Granacki, two sons and daughters-in-law, Jack Jr. and Julie (Wareham) Rotolo, and Joseph and Shelley (Fragapane) Rotolo, and her "adopted" son, Gene Longo; six grandchildren, Jeremy and Emily (Jennings) Favata, Carly E. Bovi, Jack Anthony Rotolo, Joelle M. Rotolo, Jack J. Rotolo III and Nicholas R. Rotolo, four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Antoinette Muttillo, Jenny and Antonio Pettinelli, Sara Lanzafame and Marie and Carmen Favata, all of Rome. Also surviving are sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Frances Aiello, Margaret Sayko, Marie Rotolo, Henry and Steffie Rotolo; and several nieces and nephews and many dear close life-time friends. She was predeceased by a son-in-law, Dominick "Donnie" Favata, two brothers, Dominic "Pep" Aiello and John Aiello, and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to AmCare Ambulance, Rome Hospital Emergency Room staff and supervisor, Kim Weiler, Dr. David Karandy, Rome Police and Fire Departments, Oneida County Sheriff's Department and Eric Clark And Deputy Mark Ammann who immediately attended to her at the scene.
Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday at 12:00 noon at Transfiguration Church, 111 Ridge St. Private burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are by the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 218 W. Court St.
