Richard P. DeLutis Sr.
Richard P. DeLutis, Sr., 84 of Rome passed away Monday, March 26, 2012, at Rome Memorial Hospital Residential Healthcare Facility. He was born in Rome, NY on May 13, 1927, son of the late Julio J. and Carmela Nucci DeLutis. Dick was a graduate of Rome Free Academy. He served with the U.S. Army during WWII in Germany and also received the Army of Occupation Medal and WWII Victory medal. On June 28, 1952, he married Bridget Cannarozzi in St. John the Baptist Church. Mr. DeLutis retired from Revere Copper and Brass in 1985 after 30 years of service. He was also a former employee of Goldbergs and Rosens Men's Department. Mr. DeLutis worked for Rome Memorial Hospital as a courier. Dick was a member of St. Peter's Church, Lee Senior Citizens, and life member of HP Smith Post #24 American Legion, as well as a former member of Rome Elks Club, Rome Rotary Club, Toccolana Club and the Planning Board and Board of Assessment Review for the Town of Lee.
Dick will always be remembered for humor and wit.
Surviving besides his wife Bridget, are two sons, Richard P. DeLutis Jr., Rome, and John J. DeLutis, Syracuse; a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and James Rank, Webster, NY; four grandchildren, Daniel S. DeLutis, Katherine A. DeLutis, both of Syracuse, Michael J. Rank, PA, and Bridget C. Rank, Webster; a nephew, Darryl Bauer, and a niece, Janet Roback, Utica, and several cousins. He was predeceased by a sister and brother-in-law Elinor and James Bauer.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Dr. Tallandini and the health care staff on 3 East at Rome Memorial Hospital Residential Healthcare Facility for their care and compassion.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday at St. Peter's Church at 10:30 a.m. where friends are invited to attend. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Friends may call at the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home Inc., 218 W. Court St., on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter's Church Memorial Fund or the Alzheimer's Association Mohawk Valley Regional Office, 258 Genesee St., Suite 509, Utica, NY 13502.
