Obituary of Beatrice L Pettinelli
Beatrice “Aunt Lucy” Pettinelli
1930 – 2024
Beatrice Lucy Pettinelli, 94, of Rome, passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2024 at Rome Health of natural causes.
Lucy was born in Rome, NY on May 15, 1930, to Romeo Pettinelli and Chiara DiGiosia Pettinelli. Lucy was an avid golfer and bowler. She loved to play bocce at the Toccolana Club, and, of course, she adored going to the casino. Lucy was an active member of Copper City Community Connection and St. John’s Church where she attended Mass and participated in activities.
Lucy was affectionately known to her myriad surviving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews as Aunt Lou, but she also considered the many guests she welcomed into her home as part of her family. Her home was always a hub of fun, laughter and activity. Beloved Aunt Lou regaled all with her jokes, humorous stories and memories of the past. When not with family, Lucy enjoyed spending time with her special friends, including Marie Coccia, Frances Ciaccia, Gloria Nellenbach, Carol Mackinchuck, and Dee Hugo, to whom she was devoted.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Dr. Brehaut, especially Mariangela Moore, for the kindness, care and compassion she showed to Aunt Lou during her final days. Additionally, they would also like to acknowledge her home healthcare aides from Nobel Health and the staff of Rome Health ICU.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Lucy’s name can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memorials Processing, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude PL, Memphis TN 38105-9959, or online at stjude.org.
