Tavin L. Hunziker
1994 – 2024
Tavin L. Hunziker, 29, of Utica, passed away on Thursday March 28, 2024, at Wynn Hospital in Utica, N.Y. He was born in Bangkok, Thailand on November 19, 1994, son of Michael and Laura VanSlyke Hunziker. Tavin graduated from Rome Free Academy, Class of 2013. He served in the United States Army, stationed at Ft. Bliss, El Paso, TX. Tavin was most recently employed in the Food Service department at Lutheran Home of Central New York, in Clinton.
Tavin loved culinary arts. He was passionate about putting his own spin on dishes and was especially gifted in creating amazing presentations for others. He had the best sense of humor, goofy and boy-like yet sharp and dry. He enjoyed a good nerf gun battle with his son. He loved to read and watch documentaries. He was a soft soul, accepting of others. But he lost his way.
Surviving are his parents; Laura (Phil) Trela and Michael Hunziker, children; Ethan Hunziker and Scarlett Hunziker (Amanda Coady), sisters; Tessa Hunziker and Casey Hunziker, grandparents; Marge VanSlyke, Roger VanSlyke, and Elizabeth Hunziker, Nancy Treal Keoghan, as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was predeceased by a sister, Sydney Hunziker, and a paternal grandfather, Peter Hunziker.
