Obituary of Peter A. Galluppi

Peter A. Galluppi, 80, of Rome, passed away Sunday, February 27, 2022 at Rome, Health. He was born in Watertown, NY, on December 15, 1941. Peter was educated in Rome Schools, graduating from St. Mary's School and from Rome Free Academy in 1961. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Church. Peter was employed at the New York State School for the Deaf for twenty-five years, retiring in 1995.
Peter was an exceptional care giver to his grandparents whom he lived with and provided companionship also. In the process he learned to speak Italian, enough to make communication a joy to them. He enjoyed the holidays and getting together with all of his cousins. Peter was an ardent follower of college football, especially the Syracuse Orange.
Surviving are his aunt and uncle, Margaret "Dolly" and Joseph Mayes, Rome and several cousins. He was predeceased by his mother, Mary Galluppi, aunts and uncles: Barbara and James Wells, Tomasina Maxim, Frances and John Verminski, Amelia and Canio Nigro, Carmella and Boyd Wynne, uncles and aunts: Louis and Frances Galluppi, Michael "Mit" and Antoinette Galluppi and Joseph Galluppi who was killed during WWII.
The family is grateful for the care and compassion he provided to his grandparents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 4, 2022, at 12:30 p.m., at St. John the Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio officiating. Friends may call at the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 7751 Merrick Rd., from 11-12:00 p.m., on Friday, March 4, 2022, prior to the Funeral Mass. Spring Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery.
