Obituary of Gary P. Sauer

Gary P. Sauer, 71, of Rome, passed away suddenly on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at Rome Health. He was born in Rome, on October 11, 1949, son of the late Howard "Chunky" and Rita Boyer Sauer. Gary was a graduate of Rome Free Academy. On December 13, 1975 he married Karen Marcelletta, in St. John the Baptist Church. Gary retired from Revere Copper and Brass where he worked for forty eight years. During his retirement, he always enjoyed spending time with his fellow retired Revere friends. Gary was a member of St. John the Baptist Church, Greenway Verona Mills Gun Club and Rome Elks Club. Surviving is his wife, Karen, a daughter and son-in-law, Emy and William McCarthy, Remsen, grandchildren; Chloe Lyman, Evan Liam, Gemma Grace Veronica McCarthy. Also surviving are two sisters, Cherie Gillander, Rome and Lynne Sauer, Rome, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his father and mother, Howard "Chunky" and Rita Sauer, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Louis R. and Emma C. Marcelletta and many aunts, uncles and cousins. There are no funeral services or calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made in Gary's name to a charity of one's choice. Arrangements are by the Nicholas J.
