Obituary of Mark John Williams
Please share a memory of Mark to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mark John Williams (Big Will, Smokie, Jr., Possum, Paulie) 52, of Elmira, NY, passed away on Saturday, August 21, 2021, in Rochester, NY, of natural causes.
Mark was born in Rome, NY, to Ann Marie (Coluccio) Williams and William Williams Jr. on Oct. 1, 1968. He went to high school at Rome Free Academy and graduated in 1986. Mark went on to earn a Masters Degree in Health Care Administration at The New School for Social Research. He spent his professional career managing and owning healthcare facilities. Most recently he held the position of Nursing Home Administrator for Hurlbut Care Communities, Rochester, NY. Mark was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon (TKE) fraternity chapter at SUNY Brockport.
First and foremost Mark was a devoted father to Jenna and Marc, whom he referred to as "brother bear" and "sis". He loved Jenna and Marc deeply and was incredibly proud of them. It brought him great joy to speak of their accomplishments, whether it was Jenna getting into her first choice college or Marc's success as an entrepreneur. Mark acknowledged minor accomplishments just as much as the major ones. He was dedicated to instilling values of family, faith, friendship, and traditions. While never residing in Rome, because of the deep rooted connection Mark instilled in Jenna and Marc, Rome truly feels like their second home.
Mark had a passion for hunting and fishing. An avid outdoorsman who appreciated the environment and company more than the sport itself. He experienced sheer happiness when he could share his knowledge and experience with others. He spent his professional career dedicated to eldercare; managing and owning facilities. As a healthcare professional, he felt privileged to serve and care for each individuals wellbeing. He was a true friend to many. Any friend of Mark's could be assured to be the subject of a nickname and hilarious story.
Mark was a man of deep faith and member of St. Mary Our Mother, Horseheads NY and St. John the Baptist, Rome NY. Mark was generous and known for his charitable deeds.
Mark is survived by his children Jenna and Marc Williams, Elmira NY, Jacki Evans Williams, former spouse and mother to his children, siblings Lori Trifeletti, Rome, Bill and Marie Williams, New Hartford, Robert and Karen Williams, Rome, nieces and nephews Tyler Williams, Derek Trifeletti, Devin Trifeletti, Marisa Williams, Trevor Williams and Christina Williams. Aside from family, Mark built and cherished countless meaningful personal and professional relationships.
