Obituary of Helen M. Spoon

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Helen M. Spoon, 96, of Rome, on Thursday, January 14, 2021. She was born in Rome, NY, on March 18, 1924 and was the daughter of the late Frank and Theresa Stumpo Russo. Helen attended the Rome School District and was a parishioner of St. John the Baptist Church. She was married to the late Sam Spoon on October 17, 1947.

 

One of Helen's truly great pleasure in life was the company of her many dear friends and relatives. She cherished the time she spent with them and the memories made. Whether it be going out to lunch, a phone call, or a round of golf she enjoyed every minute with them.

 

Helen is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Mike Goyette, grandchildren Michael, Andrea (Scott), and Lisa (Matthew) and great-grandchildren Madeline and Eloise. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband Sam J. Spoon and son Sam N. Spoon.

 

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 8, 2021, at 11:30 a.m., at St. John the Baptist Church.with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio officiating. There were no calling hours. Burial was in St. John the Baptist Cemetery.
