Olympia J. Carletta, 85, of Rome, was escorted on Friday, February 14, 2020, by her guardian angels to be with her brothers, sisters and family in heaven. She was born in Rome, NY, on April 10th, 1934, daughter of the late Arcangelo and Margaret Seriani Ciotti. Olympia attended Rome Schools. On July 26th, 1958 she married Alex W. Nashton. He passed away on January 8, 1984. Olympia married Salvatore Carletta on August 26, 1989. He passed away on March 25, 2000. Olympia worked thirty-seven years at Rome State School and later at Rome DDSO before retiring. Olympia and Alex managed Patty's Stagecoach Inn for the Terzini family for many years. She then was a cook for Father Clemente and the other priests at St. John the Baptist Church. Olympia was a member of St. John the Baptist Church and the Marion Guild. Olympia loved watching the New York Yankees and Derek Jeter was her favorite Yankee. She loved spending time with her canine companion "Jeter". Olympia took great pride in her big Italian family. She is survived by her sons; Cataldo "Kit" and (Noreen) Nashton, Rome, Jeff and (Pam) Nashton, TN, Mark and (Michelle) Nashton, Rome, Myles and (Dyann) Nashton, Oneida, a daughter, Claudia and (Joe) Cimino, Rome, eleven grandchildren; David and Johnelie Dial, Amber and Chuck Mizer, Alexis Clements, Matthew Glover, Marc and Brandy Nashton, Mercedes and Jordan Mills, Cassandra and Aaron Rogers, Michael John and Lisa Nashton, Alex, Shay and Paige Nashton and ten great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers and sisters-in-law; Gabriel and Karen Ciotti, Anthony and Sue Ciotti all of Rome, a sister Louise Snyder, IL, sisters-in-law, Donna Ciotti, Joanne Ciotti, Palma Ciotti, all of Rome, Ruth Fraccola, CA and several nieces, nephews, cousins, including a special cousin, Angie Sweet and all of Olympia's Rochester Family. She was predeceased by five brothers; Vinny, Felix, Angelo, Patsy and Louie Ciotti, two sisters; Clara Montabano and Marion Comito, and three brother-in-laws; Tony Montabano, Colemen Comito, Bill Snyder. Olympia's family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Rome Memorial Hospital Residential Health Center Facility for their wonderful care and compassion over the last five years. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 18, 2020, at 12:00 p.m., at St. John the Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio officiating. Friends may call at the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home Inc., 7751 Merrick Rd., on Monday from 4-7 p.m. Spring burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery.
