Obituary of Mary A. Schillaci

Mary A. Schillaci, 102, of Rome, passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2019 at home with her family by her side. She was born in Lowell, NY, on January 1, 1917, daughter of the late Thomas and Carmella Bianco DePasquale. On October 26, 1935 she married Joseph D. Schillaci, Sr., in St. John the Baptist Church. He passed away November 15, 1996. Mary retired from Rome City School District as a monitor and was also a lifetime produce farmer. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Church.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law; Frank A. and Ardie Schillaci, Joseph D. Jr., and Cathy Schillaci, all of Rome, eleven cherished grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister, Katherine Busyczak, Rome and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph, a daughter and son-in-law; Josephine and Tony Fiorenza, three brothers; Francis, Pat, and Angelo DePasquale, two sisters; Jennie DiCristina and Theresa Burlison.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to care givers; Tina, Elaine, Rhonda, Starr and Judy for their care and compassion shown to Mary, along with the family's appreciation to Carl Martin for all his efforts and kindness to Mary.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 31, 2019 at 11:00 a.m., at St. John the Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio officiating. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery. Friends may call at the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 7751 Merrick Rd., on Thursday, from 4-7 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made in Mary's name to Hospice Care, 4277 Middle Settlement Rd., New Hartford, NY 13413 or St. John the Baptist Church Memorial Fund, 210 E. Dominick St., Rome, NY 13440.
