Obituary of Lois Jean (Rognoni) DiMezzo

Lois DiMezzo, 81, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, May 1, 2019, in Stephens City, VA, where she had resided for the past year after a long life in Rome, NY. Lois was born in Jessup, PA, on May 16, 1937, daughter of the late Louis "Gene" and Jennie Stella Rognoni. She graduated from Rome Free Academy in 1955. Lois then married her high school sweetheart, Frank "John" DiMezzo, on January 28, 1956, in St. John the Baptist Church and enjoyed sixty-three years of marriage. Nonna (as she was affectionately called by all) loved her family, cooking, doing crossword puzzles and was always hopeful she would win the Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes. Lois is survived by her husband John, her four children; Barbara (Matt) Bishop, Syracuse, Louis (Leesa) DiMezzo, Rome, Phyllis ( Christopher) Hefti, Stephens City, VA, and Frank (Tammy) DiMezzo, Rome, eight grandchildren; Deanna (Ryleigh) Carr, Tracy DiMezzo, Breanna Bender, Matthew Bishop, Caileigh Bishop, Ryan DiMezzo, Jenna Hefti and Aaron DiMezzo, six great grandchildren; Daniel, Wyatt, Piper, Mila, London and Jaxon. Also surviving are a brother, Louis "Bud" Rognoni and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, a brother, Robert Rognoni and a grandson, Daniel "DJ" Clements, Jr. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 10, 2019, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Peter's Church, Rome, with the Rev. Philip Hearn officiating. The family will receive friends following the Mass. Memorial contributions in Lois's name may be made to: St. Peter's Church Memorial Fund, 105 E.
