Obituary of Lillie S. Esposito
Lillie Sims Bramlett Esposito, 95, of Rome, died Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Rome Memorial Hospital with family by her side. She was born December 8, 1922, in Union, SC, daughter of the late Arthur D. and Jessie Lawson Sims. Lillie was an honor graduate of Union High School and Spartanburg General Hospital School of Nursing in Spartanburg, S.C. On December 18, 1943, she married Gregory F. Esposito at Fort Meade, MD. Mr. Esposito passed away February 2, 2016.
Lillie worked as a surgical nurse in Washington, D.C. at Emergency Hospital until November 1945. She then moved to Rome, NY where she worked as a registered nurse at Rome Hospital until 1947. She was a member of the Rome Registered Professional Nurses Club and served as President.
Lillie is survived by four children; Gregory F. Esposito, Jr.(Rebecca), Coral Springs, FL, David S. Esposito, Coral Springs, FL, Karen Spindler, Rome, NY, Diane Comeaux (George), Jacksonville, FL, eleven beloved grandchildren, Maureen Luna (Miguel), David M. Esposito (Guadalupe), Michael F. Esposito (Lidia), Sarah, Stephanie (Michael Cook) and Stacy Spindler, Adam, Jason, and Brett Esposito, Natalie Comeaux, Madelyn Esposito, five great-grandchildren, and two sisters-in-law, Helen Esposito, Rome, NY and Gloria Lisi, Utica, NY. She is pre-deceased by all her brothers and sisters, and first great-granddaughter.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Dr. Desmond Francis, Dr. Joseph Battagglia and Dr. Rudolph Buckley and all the nurses and staff of two East at Rome Memorial Hospital for their care and compassion shown to Lillie.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 28 at 11:00 A.M. at St. John the Baptist Church, 210 E. Dominick St., with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio officiating. Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Thursday, September 27, 2018 from 4 P.M.-7 P.M. at the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 7751 Merrick Rd., Rome.
