Elizabeth "Betty" Tyksinski, 96, of Rome, passed away peacefully at home, with her loving family by her side, on Monday, May 21, 2018. She was born in Rome, NY, on December 25, 1921, daughter of the late Harold and Vernice Turner Stevenson. Betty graduated from Rome Free Academy. She married Edward Tyksinski on May 8, 1942. Betty retired from Griffiss Air Force Base after 35 yrs. as a cryptographic operator. She was a member of St. Mary's / St. Peter's Church. Betty's passion was her family and when time permitted she enjoyed her trips to Arizona and Las Vegas. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Gregory and Linda Tyksinski, Rome, five daughters and three sons-in-law; Cheryl and Ray Fryc, Utica, Sandra and Gregory Procopio, Rome, Karen Ritz, Naples, FL, Nancy Campanaro, Tommie Campanaro Rome, Debra and Frank Cittadino, Rome, a sister Darlene and Cal Wright, Florida. She leaves many adored grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren and also several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward, her parents, step-mother Margaret Stevenson, two daughters; Christine Vergalito and Diane Tyksinski, two sons-in-law; John Ritz and John Vergalito, three brothers; Harold "Bud" Stevenson, Lyle Stevenson, John Stevenson and a sister, Marjorie Stevenson. The family wishes to express a heartfelt thank you to Mom's home care girls: Robbin, Linda, Elvira, and Jill, and a special thank you to Hospice for their compassionate care and excellent service. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 1, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter's Church, with the Rev. Philip Hearn officiating. The family will receive friends at the conclusion of Mass. There are no calling hours. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Betty's name may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care, 4277 Middle Settlement Rd., New Hartford, NY 13413. Arrangements are by the Nicholas J.
