Obituary of Nicholas (Nicky) J. Favata

Nicholas (Nicky) James Favata, 73, of Rome, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 25, 2018. He was born on May 4, 1945 in Rome, NY, son of the late Jerome and Angeline Lunnette Favata. Nick was a graduate of Rome Free Academy. On May 19, 1984 he was united in marriage to Nadine Sabado Gookins. Nick retired from the Oneida County Sherriff's Department as a corrections officer in December 2011 and prior to that was employed at Rome Cable Corp. Surviving besides his wife, Nadine, are two daughters; Christine Favata, Maryland, Leialoha Montalbano, Rome, a son and daughter-in-law, Shawn and Samalia Gookins, Cooper City, FL, five beloved grandchildren; Keilani, Shawn Anthony, Jase and his mother, Nadina Garfalo, Trevor and Cody. Also surviving are Staci and Jeff Durso, who he looked upon as a daughter and son-in-law, a brother and sister-in-law, Jerome and Linda Favata, Canandaigua, a sister-in-law, Debbie Favata, Floyd and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, and a brother, Joe Favata. Nick will be sorely missed by his best friend, Nahla, a loyal and very loved canine companion, who never left his side.
