Obituary of Rose M. Valentine

Rose M. (Polce) Valentine, 94, of Rome was carried home in the arms of our Lord on, Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at St. Luke's Home, New Hartford. She was born in Rome, NY on April 27, 1923, daughter of the late Angelo and Maria (Giarrusso) Polce. On April 27, 1941 she married Ralph E. "Ducky" Valentine in St. John the Baptist Church; the couple shared in a union blessed, with over fifty years of marriage. Mr. Valentine passed away in 1992. Rose was a former employee of Revere – Rome Manufacturing. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Church.
To Rose her greatest blessing in life was her family, she enjoyed years of cooking and baking for them, and others, she loved and spent many wonderful summers vacationing at the Thousand Islands on the St. Lawrence River. As a much loved wife, mother, grandmother, nana, and friend, Rose opened her door, her kitchen and her heart to all. She will be in the hearts of her family forever.
Surviving are a loving and devoted son and daughter-in-law, Rocky and Sherry Valentine, Rome; grandchildren, Ralph "Rafe" Valentine and his fiancée, Marie Joswick, Rome, Eric and his wife Nicole Valentine, Syracuse, Allison Valentine, Rome; step-grandchildren, Braden Allen, Lindsey Allen and her fiancée Eric Avery. Also surviving are great-grandchildren, Brent, Brittany, Nicholas, Madison, Nathan, Emil, Derek, Callia Rose, Jasmine, and Mya; nephews, Robert and his wife Josephine Polce, and Nicholas and his wife Carol Polce; several great-nieces and nephews and cousin, John Giarrusso. She was predeceased by her sister and best friend, Ida Humphrey and brother-in-law, Robert Humphrey; a sister and brother-in- law, Concetta and Ramon Garcia; a brother and sister-in-law, Nicholas and Antoinette Polce; and a brother, Joseph Polce.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 11:00 A.M., at St. John the Baptist Church, with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio officiating, where relatives and friends are invited to attend. Friends may call at the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 7751 Merrick Road on Friday from 4-7 P.M. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery.
