Obituary of Dorothy E. Briggs

Dorothy E. Briggs Dorothy Esther Briggs, 95, of Rome, passed away at home on Friday, April 21, 2017. Dorothy was born in the Town of Wayland, NY, on July 21, 1921, a daughter of the late Stephen G. and Florence M. Gross Last. On September 23, 1944, she married Horace A. Briggs in Buffalo, NY, who passed away December 23, 1991. She was a member of St. Paul's Church. Surviving are four daughters: Dianne Briggs, Patricia Halpin, Lori Briggs, and Pat C, all of Rome, a son H. Stephen (Mary Winston) Briggs, Birmingham, AL; four grandchildren: Jason (Sara) Halpin, San Antonio, TX, Brandi Halpin, San Antonio, TX, Danielle (Jesse) Swinney, Rome, and Robert Briggs, Birmingham, AL; four great grandchildren: Kaila and Rylee Halpin, Connor and Charlotte Swinney. Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Janet Last and several nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by two sons: Richard and Ronald Briggs, four sisters: Cecelia, Priscilla, Roselyn and Catherine, and three brothers: William, Stephen and Leo. The family wishes to express a special thank you to caregivers Nonie and Nichole for their care and compassion shown to Dorothy. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, April 25, 2017, at 7:00 pm at the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 7751 Merrick Rd.
