The last time I saw Uncle Vince was three years ago. Uncle Vince was kind enough to open his home to me for a few days while I was on a hunting trip to Colorado. His indomitable spirit was extremely memorable. Uncle Vince never lost his humor, interest in life, and especially his deep love for Aunt Shirley. While feeling the loss of his passing there is comfort in knowing they are together again.
Bless you Uncle Vince,
Keith, Mimi, and Stacy Ludwig

Pop, words cannot expess how much you will be missed, you where the only one that understood me. I will miss are conversations about wrestling, hunting and life. Other than my father, you where the biggest influence of how a upright moral man should be. You also help me overcome my pains and grieve of combat deployments. Walk peaceful in heavens streets Pop, I love you!

A Soldiers Final Inspection
The soldier stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass,
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, you soldier,
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?"
The soldier squared his shoulders and
said, "No, Lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry guns,
Can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays,
And at times my talk was tough,
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.
But, I never took a penny
That wasn't mine to keep...
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep,
And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear,
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here,
They never wanted me around,
Except to calm their fears.
If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand,
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't, I'll understand."
There was a silence all around the throne,
Where the saints had often trod,
As the soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, you soldier,
You've borne your burdens well,
Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell."

It's heartbreaking that I never got to me Dad in person. I know from his sons and family that he was a hard working and caring man. I have learned he raised four wonderful sons and has instilled his ethics and abilities within them all. I will never forget the first time I talked to him on the phone - how sweet and welcoming he was to me. You will be missed. God bless your soul and I know you are now at peace with your favorite angel.

Our Dad left us a legacy of so many attributes, a path for us to follow.
My brothers the memories we share here, the things you have said here are so very well said. We all have him with us and it shows just from the few words you have all said here.
I see his generosity in you, his toughness and softness, his determination and his drive. Willing to give the shirt off your backs to help others or being able to fix anything. His laughter from the belly, and his funny faces or the wide range of sound effects to go with those faces. As you all know he even a sound for sitting down and getting up..
He is gone but never forgotten. Just look at us and you see he is in us, his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was not one for long goodbyes, so he left quickly and quietly with his pride and dignity.
He has not said goodbye to us. He just said as always- " I'll be seeing you"
Love you Dad
And I love you brothers

Dad was a great guy who instilled in all of us what he believed true and just. I personally will miss his vast array of spectacular facial expressions. Whether glad, sad, grumpy or surprised. Most of all his goofy one. He did love to have a good time. He will be missed by everyone he touched in life. My greatest solace is knowing he was welcomed home by his favorite angel. Peace to everyone. Jim

My father had an exterior as hard as granite and a heart of gold. When it came to helping others, he was always the first one there to work and the last to leave. If he ran across someone who needed something more than he did and he had that item, he gave it to them freely and without batting an eye. He had a work ethic as my brother Dennis has said like no one I've ever seen. He always told us "Anything worth doing, is worth doing right the first time". He was an avid outdoorsman who taught us to hunt, fish, shoot and the true meaning of what "Gods Country" really is. He was my mentor, my friend, my hunting buddy and my hero. I learned more from watching him do things from carpentry to roofing to making his own archery equipment than any other person in my life. He was always taking on and doing things himself that a lot of folks just wouldn't attempt. I remember buying my first car for 50 dollars and telling him I had money to buy a better one. He said " No, this one, we're not done yet". That summer I learned brake, engine, transmission, body and paint work. He wasn't satisfied until we reworked everything and it was "safe". When we got done he simply looked at me and said "There , now you know how to fix one! My father wasn't a rich man in a monetary sense, but he understood that through family and friends he was wealthier than anyone could ever hope to be. I'm for ever grateful and blessed by the things he imparted on me, but the greatest gift of all is the simple fact that he believed in me and he let me know it often. Words can't express how much I loved him and will miss him

I met Dad in 1996, when I met my husband Dale. I was the new person in the family....The answer to Mom McElroy's prayers...As I've been told. He gave me strength, he filled a void I'd had since I lost my own Dad at 21. He made me laugh, he made me cry....But he ALWAYS, ALWAYS made me know he loved me. He gave me strength, he taught me things about marriage, about being strong and loving. I will miss his voice, his smile, his twinkling eyes. I love you Dad.

My dad was hard man with steel blue eyes hard as rock out side , but inside he had a kind and generous heart. He was our baseball coach our hunting guide and fishing buddy . He was a hard worker and tought us a work ethic at young age , he always said do what ever you do to the best of your ability that's all I ask. He was a loyal husband and a great provider for his family. He was brutally honest ,he never told you something just because he thought that's what you wanted to hear he told you the truth. He tought us all perseverance and To have respect for others.I am gratefull to have been so blessed to have him for my Dad . I will miss him more than he will ever know. Dennis Lee McElroy.
