Obituary of Sarah Rose Bernabe

Sarah Rose Bernabe Sarah Rose Bernabe, age 92, of Rome, passed away on Friday, March 18, 2016 at the home of her daughters in Naperville, IL. She was born in Rome, NY on July 15, 1923, daughter of the late Salvatore and Rose Acuri. On May 11, 1946, she married Gene Bernabe of Waterbury, CT, in St. John the Baptist Church. He passed away on September 22, 2001. Sarah was a member of St. John the Baptist Church. Sarah was a fun loving woman who cherished her family. She always had a smile on her face and loved being around people. Sarah leaves us all with wonderful memories. Surviving are a son, Joseph T. (Kathy) Bernabe of Rome, two daughters, Elaine and Kathleen Bernabe, of Naperville, IL, a grandson, Patrick (Betsy) Bernabe of Rome and her much loved great-grandsons, Daniel and William Bernabe. Sarah also leaves many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her three sisters, Mary Arcuri, Raffie Adamo and Antoinette Colasanti and four brothers, Anthony Scalero (killed in action during World War II), Thomas Arcuri, August Scalero and Peter Arcuri. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at 12:00 pm at St. John the Baptist Church, 210 E. Dominick St., with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to: St. John the Baptist Church Memorial Fund, 210 E.
