George A. Joseph
George A. Joseph, 94, of Rome passed away on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at Bethany Gardens. He was born in Utica, NY, on November 25, 1921 son of the late Anthony and Eva Shaheen Joseph. George graduated from Utica Free Academy. He served in the U.S. Merchant Marine during World War II as a Chief Radio Operator and received several combat bars including the WWII Victory Medal and the American Theatre Medal. On June 20, 1945 he married Jean Spinella in Bronx, NY. George retired from Rome Cable Corp. after 40 years of service. He enjoyed listening to jazz music throughout his lifetime and was an avid fisherman.
Surviving besides his wife Jean, are a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Edward Jaskolka, Yorkville, NY, two sons and a daughter-in-law; Anthony and Kathy Joseph, Oswego, NY, Ron Joseph, Rome, four grandchildren; Scott Jaskolka, Matthew Jaskolka, Joshua Joseph and Courtney Joseph and two great grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers and a sister-in-law; John and Shirley Joseph and Louis Joseph all of Utica and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, George A. Joseph, Jr., a brother, Joseph Joseph and a sister, Mary Ann Lewis.
The family would like to express a special thank you to the sixth floor staff of Bethany Gardens for their care and compassion.
