Gregory F. Esposito Gregory F. Esposito, 96, of Rome, New York, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 with his family by his side. He was born on April 3, 1919 in Rome, NY, the son of Samuel and Bessie Ferlo Esposito. He graduated in 1937 from Rome Free Academy. Gregory received a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Business Administration from Syracuse University. He served with the United States Army during World War II in the Mediterranean Theatre from 1941 to1945, during which time he received a Bronze Star for meritorious service. On December 18, 1943 he married Lillie Sims-Bramlett in Fort Meade, MD. Gregory worked as Treasurer for the City of Rome, Commissioner of Finance for Oneida County, Executive Assistant to the Director of the New York State division of Budget in Albany, NY and Director of Finance of the New York State Environmental Facilities Corporation, Albany, NY. He retired as Business Administrator for the Rome Developmental Center in 1976. Gregory was a member of St. John the Baptist Church, Catholic Charities and United Fund Budget Committee. He served as Past Commander of the American Legion, Human Relations Commission Chairman for the city of Rome, Utica College of Syracuse Fund Drive Chairman and St. Jude's Leukemia Fund Drive Chairman. Gregory was a longtime member of the Rome YMCA and a strong supporter of active health for senior citizens. Gregory is survived by his devoted wife of 72 years, Lillie; four children, Gregory (Rebecca) Esposito, Jr. of Coral Springs, FL, David Esposito of Coral Springs, FL, Karen Spindler of Rome, NY and Diane (George) Esposito-Comeaux of Jacksonville, FL, 12 cherished grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, sister, Gloria Lisi, of Utica, NY and sister-in-law, Helen Esposito, of Rome, NY and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Mary Herper and her husband Theodore, brother, Samuel Esposito, brother-in-law John Lisi and great-granddaughter Scarlett Luna. Gregory's family would like to express a sincere thanks to the staff at Betsy Ross Rehabilitation Center, Rome Memorial Hospital, Dr. Antonio DiMarco and staff, Dr. Richard Sullivan of the Donald J. Mitchell Veteran's Clinic, Rome, NY, and home companions and caregivers for their love and compassion shown to Gregory. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, 210 E. Dominick St., Rome, NY, with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, February 5, 2016 at Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 218 Court Street, Rome, NY from 4-7pm.
