Yolanda Amann
Yolanda "Chubby" Amann, 79, of MacArthur Drive, Rome, passed away Wednesday, November 21,2007 at Rome Nursing Home after a long illness with her family by her side. She was born in Rome, NY on September 12, 1928 daughter of the late Achille and Angeline Deri Casadei. On May 7, 1983, she was united in marriage to Walter Amann Sr. Yolanda retired from Rome Developmental Center in 1988. She was a devote Christian woman. Yolanda enjoyed being surrounded by her family and friends as well as her new family at Rome Nursing Home. She shared her expertise of crocheting and her secret family recipes with those she loved.
Surviving besides her husband, Walter Sr., are a daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Michael Smothers, Florida; a son, Todd Harmon, Rome; beloved grandchildren, Carrie and Matt Dentino, Alan and Amber DeFazio; great grandchildren, Payton Defazio and Gianna DeFazio. Also surviving are step sons, Walter Amann Jr., Rome, Todd and his wife Suzanne Amann, and their children, Jenna Rose and Derek Amann, Rochester, NY; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Ellen and Tony Carosi and their son, Scott Carosi, all of Floyd, Richard and Sandy Amann, Rome, Phyllis Casadei, Rome, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved daughter, Gayle Wilcox, five sisters and brothers-in-law, Ann and Casper Strange, Julia and Paul Geers, Ida and Charles Boiko, Pia and William Mellen, Olga and Clarence Watson, and two brothers and sister-in-law, Nello and Mary Casadei and Ruggerio Casadei
The family would like to extend their appreciation and special thanks to Rome Nursing Home staff and her new friends there and also to the staff of Rome Memorial Hospital 2 North. Yolandas family is especially thankful to her two beloved nieces, Diane Bormann, Albany, NY and Kathleen Vero, Rome.
Funeral services are private. There are no calling hours. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Rome Nursing Home Activities Fund. Arrangements are by the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home Inc., 218 W. Court St.
