Obituary of Dolores Verrenti Busciglio

Dolores Verrenti Busciglio Dolores Verrenti Busciglio, 97, of Rome, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at Rome Memorial Hospital with her children by her side. She was born in Rome, NY on February 1, 1916, daughter of the late Valentine and Domemica Verrenti. On September 17, 1938, she married Anthony J. 'Shorty" Busciglio in St. John the Baptist Church. A blessed union of 60 years. He passed away April 21, 1998. Mrs. Busciglio retired from Rome Hospital after 25 years of service. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Church, and former member of South Rome Senior Citizen Center. Dolores enjoyed going to thecasino, watching Yankees baseball, and joyriding with her sister Rose. She enjoyed watching her great-grandchildren play baseball. Her family enjoyed her pasties, which were the best. Dolores loved to listen to Elvis music. Surviving are a son Anthony 'Chuck" J. Busciglio Jr.; two daughters, Shirley Scherer and Anita Antonucci, all of Rome; three grandchildren, Steven and his wife Karen Scherer of Holland Patent, Paul and Kim Antonucci of Madison, and Anthony and his wife Jennifer Antonucci of Clark Mills; and three great-grandchildren, Anthony Joseph Antonucci, Thomas Anthony Scherer and Jon Paul Scherer. Also surviving are sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Florence and David Symonds, Sherburne NY, Lucy Marano, FL; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Rose Mistretta and Mary D'Aiuto; and two brothers, Anthony Verrenti and Carl Verrenti. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11:00 am. at St. John the Baptist Church, to be celebrated by the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio, where relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
