Harriet R. Casamento
Harriet R. Casamento, 86, of Liverpool, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at Crouse Hospital. Born Harriet Roberts on May 14, 1926 in Utica, NY, she was the youngest child of Harriet and Joseph Roberts. She grew up in a loving home with three sisters and two brothers. Harriet attended Utica schools and after graduating high school she was employed by the Utica Chapter of the American Red Cross until 1951. On August 20, 1949, she married B. Anthony (Bud) Casamento. Together they built their home on Rt. 365 in Stittville, NY and raised their family. In 1993, they moved to Springmoor Community in Liverpool. Mr. Casamento passed away on April 20, 1995.
Harriet was employed by the Holland Patent School District in the Food Service Department. She worked at the Stittville Elementary School, retiring after 22 years in 1984.
Harriet was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Utica, a Charter member of the Floyd Volunteer Fire Department, the Salina Civic Seniors of Mattydale, the St. Joseph's Seniors of Liverpool and was a past officer of the Springmoor Community Board of Directors.
Harriet is survived by one son, James (Pamela) Casamento of Liverpool; one daughter, Diane Cook of Cicero; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren to whom she was affectionately known as "Mimi"; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Rosalie (William) Gillett of Stittville along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and many special friends.
Family and friends may call at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse on Friday, May 10, 2013 from 3:00 to 6:00 pm with funeral services by Rev. Carrie Schofield-Broadbent immediately following. Burial will be in Townsend Cemetery, Stittville on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 11:00 am. Words of comfort may be expressed at tjpfuneralhome.com.
