Obituary of Marie D. Davies

Marie D. Davies Marie D. Davies, 88, of Rome passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2013 at Rome Memorial Hospital. She was born in Rome, NY on February 13,1925 daughter of the late Joseph and Rose Carletta Messineo. On August 7, 1948 she married James H. Novak in Rome. He passed away in 1968. In April 1980, she married Robert Davies, who passed away. Marie taught cosmetology at the Verona BOCES. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Church. Marie was an active member of Rome Art Association and had many oil paintings enjoyed by her family and friends. Mrs. Davies was an active volunteer with Jervis Public Library and Hospice Palliative Care. Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Darlene and Tom Hansen, Tampa, FL, Mary Lou and Ken McKinnon, Odessa, FL, Nancy Novak and Joe Fox, Rome; a son, Paul J. Novak, Rome; two grandchildren, Sadie Marie Novak and Michelle McKinnon; and two great-grandchildren, Alexandrea (Lexy) Buehler and Anaiya Rose Smalls. Also surviving are two sisters and a brother-in-law, Jennie McGee, Sue and Joe Aquino, all of Rome; sisters-in-law, Angie Messineo, Rome, Vinnie Messineo, NC; a brother-in-law, Al Giardino, Rome; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, Lee, Charles and Sam Messineo; and two sisters, Josephine (Jo-Jo) Giardino and Teresa Stevens. The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff of Rome Home for their loving care and concern. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, where relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery.
