Alexander (Bunky) W. Nashton III Alexander W. Nashton, 71, of Rome, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 8, 2012, at Rome Memorial Hospital. He was born in Rome, NY on November 14, 1941, son of the late Alexander W. II and Grace Mecca Nashton. After graduating in 1959 from Rome Free Academy, he joined the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam. Upon his discharge from the army, he was united in marriage to Angela Mastraccio on January 19, 1963 in St. John the Baptist Church. Alex was employed as a mechanic in earlier years in Rome, and then moved to Montana opening a sub shop and Italian restaurant named Mama Angeline's in Whitefish, MT, and Columbia Falls, MT. Alex is survived by his wife Angela; a son, Michael Nashton, Kalispell, MT; a daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Christopher Brundage, Rome; four grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. Also surviving are a step-mother, Olympia Carletta, Rome; four brothers and a sister, Cataldo Nashton, Lee Center, Jeff Nashton, Lee Center, Mark Nashton, Rome, Myles Nashton, Oneida, and Claudia Cimino, Rome; and his faithful companion Zeb. A Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio officiating. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are by Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 218 W. Court St. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to an Oneida County Veterans' group.
