Rose Natale Swerediuk
Rose Natale Swerediuk, 83, of Rome, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, October 20, 2012, at Rome Memorial Hospital with her loving family by her side. She was born on February 26, 1929 in Rome, New York, daughter of the late Pasquale and Helen Butch Natale. Upon graduation from Rome Free Academy in 1946, she began work at Montgomery Ward. On October 6, 1951 she was united in marriage to Michael J. Swerediuk in St. John the Baptist Church, a blessed union of 61 years. Rose was employed with the Rome City School District where she proudly worked as a secretary, retiring in 1988 after 26 years.
Family was most important to Rose. Her husband, children, sisters and extended family were a big part of her life. She was proud of her Italian heritage and taught herself how to speak and write Italian to be able to communicate with her paternal relatives who still reside in Italy. Rose was a wonderful cook. She served many delicious meals to her friends and family. Her home was a loving, comfortable place where all were graciously welcomed.
Rose was a member of CSEA and the South Rome Seniors Center. She was a faithful member of St. John the Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband Michael; her two daughters and a son- in-law, Mary Katherine Swerediuk, Rome, Helen and Jay Reinhardt, Liverpool, NY; grandchildren, Fran (Tad) Ota, Jeff (Dana) Reinhardt; great-grandchildren, Joseph K. Ota, and John Andrew Reinhardt; three sisters, Mary Greco, Rome, Connie Festa, N. Syracuse, Palma and her husband Nicholas Perfido, MA; a brother-in-law, Frank Santoro, FL; and many brothers- and sisters-in-law. Also surviving are several special nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Helen Santoro; two brothers-in-law, Vito P. Greco and Alfred T. Festa; and brothers and sisters-in-law in the Swerediuk family. Rose leaves behind her two favorite grand-dogs, Booda and Callie.
The family would like to express a special thank you to doctors Mohammed Seedat, Ajay Goel, Shuban Moza, Sheila Lemke, and Coral Nicholas. Also thanks to the caring and compassionate nurses at 2N, ICU, 2E at Rome Memorial Hospital and a special thanks to Kim.
