James M. O'Connell Jr.
James M. O'Connell Jr., 88, of Rome, passed away on Wednesday, August 22, 2012, at Betsy Ross Nursing Facility. He was born in Manhattan, N.Y. on March 21, 1924, son of the late James M. and Helen Walsh O'Connell. Mr. O'Connell retired from Griffiss Air Force Base.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, James O'Connell and Francine Lambert, Camden; a daughter and son-in-law, Maureen and Thomas Henderson, Rome; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters-in-law, Norma O'Connell, Fla., and Irgard O'Connell, Rome; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, John and Ralph O'Connell; and a sister, Helen Diaz.
The family would like to express a special thank you to all the staff at Betsy Ross Nursing Facility, and Dr. Acosta for their care and compassion.
Services are private. There are no calling hours. Burial will be in Saratoga National Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 218 W. Court St.
