Florence J. De Bonzo
Florence "Manna" J. DeBonzo, 91, of Rome, passed away Saturday, August 11, 2012 at Rome Memorial Hospital. She was born in Rome, NY on July 5, 1921, daughter of the late Gabriel and Mary Porto Tamburino. On December 27, 1941, she married Louis A. DeBonzo Sr. in St. John the Baptist Church. He passed away February 26, 1976. Florence was a retiree of Marcy Psychiatric Center. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Church and Ava Dorfman Senior Center. Florence was an avid bingo player.
Surviving are a son, Louis A. DeBonzo Jr., Fairport, NY and Naples, FL; two daughters and son-in-law, Theresa and Raymond Kerr, Naples, FL, Gina and Robert Hartnett, Rome; six grandchildren, Michael Kerr, VA; Kathleen and her husband Reginald Bragdon, VA; Brian Hartnett, Christine Hartnett, both of Rome; Lisa and her husband Derek Kemp, Rochester, NY; and Julie DeBonzo, Rochester, NY; three great-grandchildren, Annabelle Bragdon, Connor Bragdon and Olivia Hartnett. Also surviving are two brothers, Joseph Tamburino and Gene Tamburino, both of Rome; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Carmella and Dominick Tagliaferri, Lena Colangelo and Hilda Vaccaro, all of Rome; and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Louis Sr., three brothers, Anthony, Louis and Samuel Tamburino, a sister, Mary DePasquale, two brothers-in-law, Francis Colangelo and Raymond Vaccaro.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Drs. Tallandini and Potluri and Nurse Kathy Pallay for all their care and guidance, and also the entire staff of the third floor of Rome Memorial Hospital.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 11:00 AM at St. John the Baptist Church, with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio officiating, where friends are invited to attend. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery. Friends may call at the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 218 W. Court St., today from 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Baptist Church Memorial Fund or to a charity of one's choice in Florence's memory.
