Obituary of Rose T. Pelano

Rose T. Pelano Rose T. Pelano, 89, of Rome, passed away on Thursday, May 10, 2012, at Betsy Ross Nursing Facility with her niece Kathleen and her husband James Smith at her side. She was born in Rome, NY on August 11, 1922, daughter of the late Charles and Raffaela Ferrussi Pelano. Rose was a graduate of Rome Free Academy Class of 1943. She was a former employee of Rome Cable and retired from Varflex Corp. on Sept. 1 1987. Rose was a member of St. John the Baptist Church. Surviving are two sisters, Phyllis Galluzzo and Caroline Baptiste, both of Rome; two sisters-in-law, Josephine Pelano, Verona, and Catherine Pelano, Rome; several nieces and nephews including Kathleen (Pelano) Smith and her husband James, Rome, Carol Putruele, Utica, and Joseph Guarascio, FL; and great nieces and nephews including Jeffrey Smith and his son Derek, Deerfield, and Derek's mother Leslie; Jeremy Smith, CA; Karie-Ann and her husband David Raynault, FL; several great-great nieces and nephews; and four friends, Donna, Josephine, Mary, and Nancy. She was predeceased by two sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and George DiBrango, and Eleanor and Joseph Guarascio; and five brothers and three sisters-in-law, John, Benjamin and Jane, Anthony and Susie, Patrick, and Joseph and Barbara Pelano; and a brother-in-law, August Galluzzo. The family would like to express a special thank you to the entire staff of Betsy Ross for their loving care and compassion shown to Rose. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 14, 2012, at 4:00 p.m. at the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home Inc, 218 W. Court St. Private burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 2 to 4 p.m.
