Amelia Nigro
Amelia Nigro, 92, a resident of Bethany Gardens for one year, passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at Rome Memorial Hospital. She was born in Rome, NY on August 16, 1919, daughter of the late Sebastian and Flavia Fanfarillo Galluppi. Amelia attended Rome schools. On November 11, 1961 she married Canio Nigro in St. John the Baptist Church. He passed away November 11, 2003. Amelia was a former employee of SS Kresge, where she worked at the lunch counter. Mrs. Nigro was a member of St. John the Baptist Church.
Surviving are three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Tomasina Maxim, Brockport, NY; Margaret and Joseph Mayes and Barbara and James Wells, all of Rome; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Louis and Frances Galluppi, Michael and Antoinette Galluppi and Joseph Galluppi; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Frances and John Verminski, Mary Galluppi and Carmella and Boyd Wynne.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:15 AM from the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 218 W. Court St. and at St. John the Baptist Church at 11:00 AM, with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio officiating. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4-7 PM.
