John P. Surace
John "Johnny Boy" P. Surace, 59, of Rome, went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 21, 2011 after a brief illness. He was born in Rome, NY, on April 11, 1952, son of John R. and Jennie Brognano Surace. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Church.
Surviving besides his mother Jennie are a sister and brother-in-law, Katherine and Richard Griffin of Glenmont, NY; a nephew Alex Griffin. Johnny was a lover of Country Music and enjoyed being with his family and being sung to by his cousin Mary Spinelli. Also surviving are an uncle, Dr. James P. and his wife Ann, an aunt Mrs. Joseph (Patricia) Grillone, all of Rome; cousins James P. and his wife Tina Brognano and family, Thomas G. and his wife Mary Brognano and family, Mary and Joe Campbell and family, and Laurie and Greg Kondella and family, all of Rome; Joanne and Joe Vitalone and family, TX; special cousins Rose Vaccaro, Mary Spinelli, both of Rome; Tina Sonsini, CA; James F. Brognano, Rome; Dominick Brognano, VA; and Dan Brognano, FL. He was predeceased by his father John R. Surace and an uncle Dr. Frank L. Brognano.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. from the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc, 218 W. Court St. and at St. John the Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m.
