Nora Cortese Nora Cortese, 94, of Rome, passed away Sunday, August 14, 2011, at Rome Memorial Hospital Residential Health Care Facility. She was born in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y., on April 22, 1917, daughter of the late Dominick and Elizabeth Aroni DeAgazio. On November 9, 1940, she married James V. Cortese Sr. in St. John the Baptist Church. He passed away October 14, 1991. Mrs. Cortese retired from Rome Manufacturing Co. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Church and its Marian Guild. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, James Jr. and Judy Cortese, Rome; several nieces and nephews, including two special nephews, Dominick Stagliano, who was her special caregiver every single day, and Nicholas Stagliano, both of Rome. Nora was predeceased by her husband James, brother Jack DeAgazio, sister Rose Stagliano, who was her constant companion, and several other sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. The family would like to express a special thank you to the third floor East (Bartlett Wing) at Rome Memorial Hospital and the administrators, nurses, aides, and the cleaners for their care and compassion shown. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:15 a.m. from the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home Inc., 218 W. Court St., and at St. John the Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
