Lillian J. Ritchie Lillian J. Ritchie, 87, of Rome, passed away Monday, October 11, 2010, at Rome Nursing Home. She was born in Rome, N.Y. on January 28, 1923, daughter of the late James and Josephine Aldi Farino. On June 13, 1953, she married Anthony "Bugs" P. Ritchie in St. John the Baptist Church. He passed away June 6, 1995. Lillian retired from Rome State School and formerly worked as an aide in the Rome City School District. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Church. Lillian was devoted to the Blessed Mother and attended Novenas regularly. She was a former member of South Rome Senior Citizens Center and was an avid card player, loved Bingo, knitting, crocheting and enjoyed cooking. Surviving are a son, John A. Ritchie, and a daughter, Josephine A. Ritchie, both of Rome; two grandsons, Anthony Destito and John Matthew Ritchie. Also surviving are a sister, Antoinette Farino, Rome, and several nieces and nephews; and many special friends, including Jean Catanzaro. She was predeceased by a brother, John Farino, three sisters, Mary Malorzo, Jennie Mooney and Rose Genovese, and a special friend, Louise Carissimo. The family would like to express a special thank you to Rev. John F. Hogan Jr. and Rev. Philip Hearn, Dr. Joel Amidon Jr., Dr. Butala, Dr. Alessi, Dr. Potluri and the staff at Rome Nursing Home for their care and compassion. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 8:15 a.m. from the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 218 W. Court St., and at St. John the Baptist Church at 9:00 a.m. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m.
