David P. Jones
David P. Jones, 41, of Clinton, passed away Saturday, June 12, 2010 at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Utica, as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. He was born in Rome, NY on August 22, 1968, son of Merwin and Elaine Tagliere Jones. David was a graduate of Rome Free Academy, class of 1987. He served in the US Marine Corps from 1988 until 1992. Dave served in Desert Shield and Desert Storm and also received the Meritorious Mast Award, National Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon and Rifle & Pistol Expert Badges. While in the Marines, he was a WSSI (Water Safety Instructor) and Jump Instructor.
On October 10, 1992, he married Christine M. Seccurra in Rome. He was a construction manager for Black and Veach Telecommunication Co., Syracuse. David was of the Catholic faith, a member of the American Legion and was an avid motorcyclist and hunter. He enjoyed his motorcycle trip to Michigan with his friend and special brother, Brian Underwood.
Surviving, besides his wife Christine, are his father, Merwin "Nip" Jones, Rome; a second Dad, George Crego, Rome; sisters, Jennifer and her husband Darren Kaczor, Durhamville, Denese and her husband Douglas Savoy, Holland Patent; a niece and God daughter, Kalyn Marie Kaczor; nephews, DeForrest, Justin and Coleman Savoy; his four dogs, Harley, Evo, Rummy Croix and Gunny. He was predeceased by his mother, Elaine Tagliere Crego, maternal grandmother, Antoinetta Tagliere, paternal grandparents, Robert and Dorothy Jones, and step grandparents, David and Jacqueline Crego.
The family would like to express a special thank you to the New Hartford Police Department and friends of the family for their care and compassion shown.
In accordance with David's wishes, visitation will be on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. at the family's home, 6985 State Route 5, Clinton, with a celebration of life to follow at 7:00 p.m., where family and friends are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rome Humane Society, P.O. Box 4572, Rome, NY 13442-4572. Arrangements are by the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 218 W. Court St.
