Obituary of Elizabeth Searles

Elizabeth Searles Elizabeth Searles, 90, of Rome, passed away Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at Bethany Gardens. She was born in Rome, N.Y. on September 2, 1918, daughter of the late John and Theresa Brognano Surace. Betty graduated from Rome Free Academy, Class of 1936. On December 26, 1938 she married Charles O. Searles in St. Peters Church. He passed away September 30, 2000. Mrs. Searles was a former employee of Williams Brothers Knitting Mill, Triangle Shoe Store, and retired in 1978 from the general office at Revere. She was a member of St. Pauls Church.Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Charles J. and Irene Searles, Pittsford, N.Y.; a daughter and son-in-law, Susan J. and Jack Cochran, Whitesboro; a granddaughter, Kelly S. Cochran, Whitesboro; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Spinelli, Mrs. Rose Vaccaro, both of Rome, Mrs. Tina Sonsini, California; a sister-in-law, Viola Surace, Rome; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Anthony Surace and Joseph Surace.Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Pauls Church where relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will be in St. Johns Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are by the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 218 W. Court St.
