Obituary of Jennie M LaMonica
Jennie M. (Voci) LaMonica
1927 - 2024
Jennie M. LaMonica, 96, passed away peacefully into the hands of the Lord in the early morning hours of Monday, January 01, 2024, with her loving daughter by her side. She was born in Rome, N.Y. on February 28, 1927, eldest daughter of the late Salvatore and Antoinette (Procopio) Voci. She was educated in Rome schools.
Jennie was predeceased by her husband Frank on February 05, 2023, whom she shared a blessed marriage of 76 years. Jennie met Frank while working at Montgomery Ward’s shoe department. He went with a friend to buy a pair of shoes and ended up meeting the love of his life. They were soon married on August 31, 1946 at St. John the Baptist Church on River Street in Rome.
Jennie was instrumental in helping to establish the family owned business, “Frank LaMonica & Sons” on Turin Rd. in Rome. She pumped gas, ran the office, and met many wonderful customers. The business remains open today and is currently run by their son, Sam LaMonica and grandson Samuel. Together, with her husband, they were snowbirds in Port St. Lucie, Florida for over 35 years where they made many new friends and had beautiful memories. Jennie prided herself in being an outstanding wife, mother, and homemaker. She was a perfect hostess. Friends and family were always welcomed with a warm embrace and never left without a full belly. Jennie also enjoyed crocheting, and made afghans for all 9 grandchildren as wedding gifts, as well as beautiful crib blankets for her great grandchildren.
Jennie is survived by her son, Frank (Barbara) LaMonica; daughter, Cecilia (Dave) Fiorini; son, Sam (Maureen) LaMonica; sister, Angie Carbone; and loving sister, Grace Pacicca, who was always by her side and helped take care of her. She also leaves behind nine grandchildren; Frank P. LaMonica, Audra (John) Forste, Peter (Anissa) LaMonica, David (Danielle) Fiorini, Aaron (Carrie) Fiorini, Brittany (Nicholas) Antonio, Christina (Carey) Phair, Meghan LaMonica (Andrew Lawrence), Samuel LaMonica (Nicole Chapman); and fourteen great-grandchildren, whom she adored. She also leaves behind a special, loving cousin, Diane Nash (Dave Cunningham) of Florida, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Jennie was predeceased by her loving brother-in-law, Frank Pacicca; and special uncle and aunt, Tony and Olga Procopio, several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
A special thank you is extended to her niece, Kathy Loreto, who often helped to care for Jennie. Also, the family would like to thank neighbors, Dick and Elvira Garafalo, and Dave and Anne Iaocovissi for always being there for our parents.
