Edith 'Edie' C. DeCristo
Edith "Edie" C. DeCristo, 83, of Rome, passed away Friday, February 26, 2010 in Rome Memorial Hospital. She was born in Yonkers, N.Y. on February 20, 1927, daughter of the late William W. and Elsie McLester Coffey. On April 6, 1966, she married Sam DeCristo in Rome. He passed away June 24, 1979. Edie was a member of the Rome Women's Bowling Association for over 30 years. She held various league offices and served on many league committees. Edie was inducted into the Rome Bowling Hall of Fame. She was a 30 year member of the Rome Moose Club and was a member of the Humane Society. Edie was an avid animal lover.
Surviving are a niece, Lisa Tucker-Clements, DeVon, England; and several grand nieces and nephews. Also surviving are special friends, Heather Brown, Mary Hartje and Barbie Lamphier, all of Rome.
Funeral services are private. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are by the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 218 W. Court St. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Rome, P.O. Box 4572, Rome, N.Y. 13442.
