Dominick R. Madonia
1953 – 2023
Dominick R. Madonia, 70, of Rome, passed away unexpectedly at home on Monday, December 04, 2023. He was born in Rome, N.Y. on March 05, 1953, son of the late Joseph Anthony and Angeline Marie Coviello Madonia. Dominick grew up in Rome, graduated from Rome Free Academy, and remained a resident his entire life. He was a devoted husband and father, and proud of his children and grandchildren. Dom was a friend to many in the area and greatly enjoyed a simple life of spending time with those he cared about. He also enjoyed having coffee with his friends, a round of golf, cooking on Sundays, and enjoying a football game or two!! Dom worked for the State of New York, supervising homes for those with developmental disabilities, until his retirement, and he cared deeply for those he was serving. Dom was a member of St. John the Baptist Church, and the Knights of Columbus Rome Council.
Surviving are his wife, Jo Ann Coady Madonia; children, Angela Scheiderich (Mike), Clinton, N.Y., and Cody Madonia, Rome, N.Y. ; two grandchildren, Bridget and Leander Scheiderich; a brother, Anthony Madonia (Anne Marie), Camillus, N.Y.; a nephew, Matthew Madonia (Katie), Liverpool, N.Y.; mother-in-law, Louise Coady, Rome, N.Y.; brother-in-law, and sister-in-law, Troy and Bonnie Youngs, Canton, GA, and Todd and Terry Coady, Blossvale, N.Y., and several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, as well as some very close friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, December 10, 2023, at 3:30 p.m., at the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 7751 Merrick Rd. Rome. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. prior to the service.
