1931 - 2023

 

Lawrence K. Bruno, 92, of Whitesboro, passed away on Sunday, August 20, 2023, at Loreto Health and Rehabilitation in Syracuse N.Y.  He was born in Rome, N.Y., on April 3, 1931, son of the late Dominick and Jessie Nettles Bruno.  Larry served with the Military Police in the U.S. Air Force from 1950-1954 in Wiesbaden, Germany.  He and his wife Marianne were married in 1953. She passed away in 2013. Larry was Branch Manager for Electrolux Vacuums, Utica, for several years, covering a large territory.  He was a member of St. Paul’s Church, Whitesboro. 

 

Surviving are three nephews, Paul DeSantis, Santa Monica, CA, Gordon Bruno, Vernon, NY, and Dominick Bruno, Rome, NY, a niece, Joanna Ponto, Mattydale, NY, and several great nieces and nephews, as well as a special best friend, Lorraine DeMichele.  He was predeceased by two brothers, Gordon “Sam” Bruno and Dominick “Dunnie” Bruno, two sisters; Frances DeSantis and Eva DeGrazio, and two nephews, William DeSantis and James DeSantis. 

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday April 03, 2024 at 11:00 a.m at St. John the Baptist Church, 210 E. Dominick Street in Rome, with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio officiating. At the conclusion of Mass, Military Honors will be rendered for Lawrence. Private burial will take place in St. John the Baptist Cemetery. There are no calling hours. 

 

Memorial contributions may be made in Larry’s memory to the Salvation Army, 410 W. Dominick St., Rome, NY 13440. 

 

Arrangements are by the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 7751 Merrick Rd. Rome, N.Y.
