Obituary of Ann D. Nicholson
Ann D. Nicholson, 88, of Rome, NY, passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at Betsy Ross Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Rome, NY, on January 30, 1935, daughter of the late Nicola and Antoinette Stewart DeLutis. Ann graduated from Rome Free Academy in 1952. On May 14, 1955 she married Robert L. Nicholson in St. John the Baptist Church. Ann was proud of her 40-year career at Mohawk Valley Community College, Rome Campus, where she retired as an Administrative Assistant in the Hospitality Department. Ann was a former employee of Rose Hospital and a member of St. John the Baptist Church.
Surviving besides her husband, Bob are two daughters; Ellen Cucci and her husband, Lyn Whitcomb and Susan Waters, all of Rome; two grandchildren, Anthony Cucci and his fiancée, Anna Dussing, AnneMarie Haumesser and her husband, Luke, and a great granddaughter, Celia Ann. Also surviving are two sisters; Jean Garlinghouse, and Elaine Kowalsky, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three sisters and brothers-in-law; Mary and Dr. Joseph Stellato, Margaret and Martin Cudillo, Dorothy and Michael Kopchik, and brothers-in-law Robert Garlinghouse and Leonard Kowalsky.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at 1:30 p.m., at St. John the Baptist Church, 210 E. Dominick St., Rome, NY, with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:30 p.m., at church prior to the Funeral Mass. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery.
Ann’s family would like to thank her caregivers from Independence Care and Home Helpers for their kindness and compassion throughout the past few years.
