Obituary of Cathryn S Ziemba
Cathryn Carroll Ziemba, 66, of New Hartford, NY, passed away on Sunday February 26, 2023, at Abraham House, Rome, NY, after a fierce battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born in Columbia, MO, on September 12, 1956, daughter of the late Ansel and Patsy (Black) Carroll. Cathy graduated from Westminster College, PA with a bachelor’s degree in church music. She married William S. Ziemba, they have shared a loving union since 1993. Cathy was a talented musician who used her talents and training to serve God’s people. She was organist and choir director at Luther Memorial Lutheran Church, North Syracuse, St John the Baptist Catholic Church, Rome, and at Christ Church Methodist, Sherrill. Cathy was a cheerful and reliable substitute at many different churches and denominations throughout Oneida, Lewis and Madison Counties. She taught piano for many years in the Utica/Rome area. Cathy was a music volunteer at both the Lutheran and Presbyterian Homes until her illness made her stop. She also enjoyed dance, yoga and cats.
Surviving, besides her husband, Bill, and cat, Otis, is a brother, Mike Carroll, North Syracuse; two aunts, Suzanne Roosen, Arizona; Judy Black, Missouri; several cousins and many cherished friends.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Abraham House Rome, for their care, compassion, and dedication shown towards Cathy.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday March 11, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 108 W. Court St., Rome, NY 13440. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. There are no calling hours. Private, spring burial will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery Clinton, NY.
