Obituary of Frank J LaMonica
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Frank J. LaMonica announces his passing. At the age of 96, Frank died peacefully in his sleep at home on Sunday February 5, 2023, with his loving wife by his side. Frank was born in Rome, NY, on April 16, 1926, son of the late August and Cecilia Perry LaMonica. He attended Rome schools. On August 31, 1946, he married the love of his life, Jennie Voci, in St. John the Baptist Church, a blessed union of 76 years.
Frank grew up helping his father at the family farm on South James Street, where he learned to pick onions and potatoes at three years old. From a young age, he was mechanically inclined. A former employee of Revere, Frank repaired trucks and machinery. He excelled at all types of mechanical repair work and could fix anything. Frank later entered a partnership with his brother Joe, selling vehicles under the Rambler franchise. In late 1970, Frank opened his own business, Frank LaMonica and Sons, Inc., repairing all types of vehicles. The business remains opened today, and is now owned and operated by his son Sam and grandson Samuel.
Together with his wife Jennie, they were snowbirds at Port St. Lucie, Florida for over 35 years, where they made many new friends and beautiful memories.
Frank was a member of St. John the Baptist Church and he enjoyed gardening and maintaining his homes. He also loved spending time with his grandson David. They shared a special bond, fixing things, and taking care of the house and yard.
Frank is survived by his loving wife, Jennie, son, Frank (Barbara) LaMonica, daughter, Cecilia (Dave) Fiorini, and son Sam (Maureen) LaMonica. He leaves behind nine grandchildren, Frank P. LaMonica, Audra (John) Forste, Peter (Anissa) LaMonica, David (Danielle) Fiorini, Aaron (Carrie) Fiorini, Brittany (Nicholas) Antonio, Christina (Carey) Phair, Meghan LaMonica (Andrew Lawrence), Samuel LaMonica (Nicole Chapman), and fourteen great-grandchildren, whom he adored. Also surviving is a special sister-in-law, Grace Pacicca, and many loving nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind a special, loving cousin, Diane Nash (Dave Cunningham) of Florida. He was predeceased by his brothers, John and Joseph, sisters, Margaret, Mary, Angela, Theresa and Fanny, and their spouses, a special brother-in-law, Frank Pacicca, and Uncle and Aunt, Tony and Olga Procopio. Frank was also predeceased by his uncles, Joseph and Anthony LaMonica of California.
