Albert "Albie" A. Grosso
Albert "Albie" A. Grosso, 93, of Rome, passed away on Monday, April 3, 2017. He was born in Rome, NY, on July 7, 1923, son of the late Vincent J. and Frances M. Citro Grosso. Albie graduated from Rome Free Academy Class of 1942. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theatre. On July 10, 1971, he married Julia Bauer in St. John the Baptist Church. She passed away June 22, 1995. Albie retired in 1985, from Rome Manufacturing. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Church. Albie was active in the Rome Democratic Party and was an election inspector, Life Member of the VFW, American Legion and former Rome Moose Club. He was also Secretary – Treasurer of Local MESA #2 Union, past President of Freedom Singers Group, a member and volunteer at Ava Dorfman Senior Center and South Rome Senior Citizen Center.
Surviving are three grandchildren: Larry Mackey, Frankfort, Joe (Audrey) Mackey, Westmoreland, Julie (Greg) Crane, Frankfort, three great grandchildren: Nicole Mackey, Joseph Mackey, and Garrett Crane. Also surviving is a step-son: Lawrence (Louise) Mackey, Green Bay, WI, a daughter-in-law: Mickey Majka, Frankfort, two nieces: niece and Goddaughter, Tracy Owens and her two children, Sebring, FL, and a niece Priscella. He was predeceased by a brother: Pat Grosso.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at 12:00 p.m., at St. John the Baptist Church, with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio officiating. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery. Friends may call at the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 7751 Merrick Rd., on Tuesday, April 18, 2017, from 5-7 p.m.
Memorial Contributions may be made to St. John the Baptist Church Memorial Fund, 210 E. Dominick St., Rome, NY 13440 or the American Heart Association, 120 Lomond Ct., Utica, NY 13502.
