Aldo Calicchia Aldo Calicchia, 90, of Rome, passed away peacefully at Rome Memorial Hospital on Thursday, March 23, 2017, after a brief illness. He was born in Veroli, Italy, on January 1, 1927, son of the late Enrico and Savina Calicchia. Aldo was married to Domenica Innocenti Calicchia in 1949; a union that lasted nearly sixty years, until her passing in 2009. He immigrated to the United States in 1950 and began working at Rome Strip Steel, until his retirement in 1989. Aldo was an avid bocce player, hunter and fisherman in his younger years. He also enjoyed making his own wine and took much pride in his garden and fruit trees. Aldo was a lifetime member of the Vernon/ Verona Rifle Association and a long standing member of the Toccolana Club. Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law: Linda and Roberto Botticelli, two granddaughters: Cristina and her husband Frank Martinez III, Stefanie Botticelli and Justin Cortese, a great grandchild: Frankie Martinez IV, and special lifelong friends: the Monterastelli Family. Aldo was predeceased by a daughter, Luigia Calicchia, in 1973. The family would like to express a sincere thank you to Rome Memorial Hospital Staff and especially the ICU dept. for their help during this difficult time. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio officiating. The family will receive friends at church from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., prior to his Funeral Mass. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 55 W. Wacker Dr. Suite 1150, Chicago, IL 60601. Arrangements are by the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 7751 Merrick Rd.
