Obituary of Dorothy J. Carpenter

Dorothy J. Carpenter Dorothy J. Carpenter, 81, of Rome, passed away Monday, January 9, 2017 at Oneida Extended Care Facility. She was born in Olympia, Washington on January 4, 1936, daughter of the late William Sjoblom and Irma Auterson. On March 25, 1956, she married Robert M. Carpenter in Sherrill, NY, a blessed union of fifty-seven years. He passed away December 13, 2013. Dorothy was owner and operator with her late husband of the former B & W Television Sales and Service. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Church. Surviving are four sons and a daughter-in-law: Douglas and Deborah Carpenter, Rome, Robert M. Carpenter, Jr., FL, Cary L. Carpenter, Rome, Scott Carpenter and Linda Oyer, Clinton, two daughters and sons-in-law: Jean and Rick Seifert, Rome, Betty and Wayne McCulloch, AL, eleven grandchildren: Diane, Rusty, Amanda, Stephanie, Lindsey, Kyle, Paige, Morgan, AnnJulie, Jina and Marissa, twelve great grandchildren: Michael, Olivia, Matthew, Wesley, Conner, Aspen, Carter, Samuel, Kane, Jake, Aiden and Joshua. Also surviving are a brother and sister-in-law: Donald and Leola Sjoblom and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: James Carpenter, Blossvale, Milton "Junior" and Deborah Carpenter, Rome, Jennie Ross, AL, Michael "Mickey" Maugeri, FL, Mary "Dolly" and Fred Scaccia, Rome and Frances Spangler, Rome and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Diane Gaffney. The family would like to express a special thank you to Dr. Cotronea and Dr. Tallandini and their nurses Penny and Kelly. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 13, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio officiating. Burial will be in Rome Cemetery.
