Gordon Bruno Gordon Bruno, 99, of Rome, passed away Sunday, October 30, 2016 at Betsy Ross Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Rome, NY, on July 25, 1917 son of the late Dominick and Jessie Nettles Bruno. Gordon served in the U.S. Army during WWII. In 1939 he married, Mary Lucci, in St. John the Baptist Church. She passed away in 1953. Gordon later married Josephine Todora in Rome. She passed away in 1990. Gordon retired from Rome Manufacturing, where he was a Tube Mill Assistant Foreman. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Church, Rome Moose Club, American Legion and was an avid bowler for several leagues and a sports fan. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Joanna and Frank Ponto, Mattydale, two sons and a daughter-in-law; Gordon and Kathy Bruno, Vernon, Dominick Bruno, Rome, six grandchildren and two great granddaughters. Also surviving, are a brother, Lawrence Bruno, Utica and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Dominick, sisters; Frances and Eva. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 4, 2016, at 11:00 a.m., at St. John the Baptist Church. Friends may call at the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 7751 Merrick Rd., on Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
