Elizabeth "Midge" (Emeterio) Ferlo Elizabeth "Midge" (Emeterio) Ferlo, 97, of Rome passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at Rome Memorial Hospital, with her family at her side. She was born in Amsterdam, NY, on September 30, 1919 daughter of the late Rodrigo and Susana Quintanal Emeterio. On September 19, 1945 she married Olindo "Lindy" F. Ferlo in Rome. He passed away June 19, 2004. She was educated in Rome Public Schools and worked at Griffiss Air Force Base during World War II loading planes with supplies for soldiers bound for Europe. Elizabeth was a member of St. John the Baptist Church. Surviving are two sons, Joseph R. Ferlo and Olindo "Lindy" J. Ferlo, a beloved granddaughter, Tory Elizabeth and her husband Rocco DeBlasiis, all of Rome and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving is a special friend Mary Ross, whose love and companionship brought a special quality of life for Midge throughout the past decade. Her friendship and continued support will always be remembered by the Ferlo Family. Midge was predeceased by her husband, Lindy and a son, John Patrick Ferlo, three brothers: Frank "Hank", Eloy and Joe Emeterio; two sisters: Mary Conover and Aurora "Ruby" Luiere. The family extends special gratitude to the CNA's and Staff of Bethany Gardens, especially Cliff, Kelli, Kristi, Liz and Lisa of the fifth floor, who have helped make the facility a real home for Elizabeth during the past five years. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio officiating. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery. Friends may call at the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 7751 Merrick Rd., on Thursday, January 5, 2017 from 2-5 p.m. In memory of Midge's kind heart and giving spirit, the family asks those who knew her to commit a random act of kindness.
