Rocco F. Iuorno Rocco F. Iuorno, 89, of Rome, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away on Thursday, October 13, 2016, with his family by his side. He was born December 14, 1926, in Utica, NY, the son of the late Frank Iuorno and Felicia Solimondo. Rocco served in the U.S. Army infantry during World War II. On August 7, 1954, he married Carmella Ferrare at St. John the Baptist Church. He earned his Bachelor's and Master's degrees at Utica College of Syracuse University. For 35 years he worked as an engineer for RADC at Griffiss Air Force Base in Rome, NY. He also taught mathematics part-time as an adjunct professor at Utica College for ten years. Rocco was an avid golfer, Syracuse University fan, and reader, having enjoyed a book club at Jervis Public Library. Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Carmella; two daughters, Barbara Johnson (Steven) of Ashland, MA, and Maryrose Iuorno-Shirley (Chris) of Downingtown, PA; grandchildren, Daniel (Rachel), David, Timothy, Nicholas, and Laura. Also surviving are a brother Senatro (Genevieve) Iuorno of Rome; sister Mariangela Iuorno of Utica; sister-in-law Marlyn Ferrare of Rome; and a brother-in-law Dominick Ferrare of Rome. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 17, 2016, at St. Joseph's Church, Lee Center, NY. There are no calling hours. However, the family will receive friends following the Mass. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery.
